Enough with the time spent at the gift-shops in the city searching for the perfect present for your loved ones. I am always trying to impress with the present I choose and this is the reason why sometimes I prefer to create the gift myself.
This year I have discovered and tried the fascinating and creative “Open When Letters” project and I am going to share it with you. In Romania, it is not so popular as it is in the U.S or U.K.
It is not an easy project but it is very sweet, emotional, personal and original. More than that, Open When Letters can be a great form of communication, especially when you want to express some feelings you don’t have the courage to express in person.
What are these Open When Letters? As the name suggests, these are some letters you personalize for a loved person so that she or he can open at a certain moment. Well, and this is the hard part – choosing the right moments and the topics for the letters.
Of course, you will choose the topics according to your relationship with the person you dedicate the lettersto, and the occasion. The good thing is that the possibilities are endless.
What you need
- Envelopes (different sizes and colors)
- A pair of scissors
- White paper and colored paper
- Surprises for the letters. Yes, this is the most difficult part, and the most creative and pleasant.
Choose the moments to write on the envelopes. For example: open when you are happy, open when you are sad, open when you are sick, open when you miss me, open when is raining, open when you are bored, open when you are upset, open when you miss me, open when you can’t sleep, etc. As I said, the possibilities are infinite and remember that the success of this projects depends a lot on how creative you are.
For every moment written on the envelope, create a beautiful message on a piece of paper. Be sincere, unique, express your feelings.
Now it’s time to add the small gifts I was talking about earlier. Be creative! For example, for the “Open When You Are Sick” letter, I created a small survival kit containing a teabag, some tissues, an aspirin. For the “Open in a Sunny Summer Day” letter I chose a colorful dress.
Seal the envelopes and put everything in a box you can accessorize with a cute bow or leave it as it is.
Now the most creative gift is ready for your favorite person!
